Profile: Jo Tory from Najo Jewellery

As part of a new feature on The Bride's Diary Blog, we will be introducing you to individuals who work in the wedding industry... giving you an insight into who they are and why they love weddings!

This week we have been chatting with Jo Tory, managing director of Najo Jewellery. Jo gives us an insight into some of her memorable experiences from working in the jewellery industry for the last 25 years, as well as her inspiration for creating beautiful jewellery...

Tell us a little about your business...

Najo is a contemporary sterling silver jewellery brand that focuses on fine design. We aim to provide the most captivating and enticing collection on the market. We are designers and release two collections per year.

What is your role in the business and why are you passionate about it?

I am the Managing Director of the company. My passion for jewellery started when I lived in a small town in Mexico in the early 1980's and discovered the stunning workmanship of the silversmiths there. I knew then that this was for me- to be able to express myself through jewellery design.

How long have you been working in the industry?

I have been in the jewellery industry for 25 years

What are some of your past business experiences?

Probably the most memorable is right at the beginning of my career I was selling some designs on a street in Rome. The police would occasionally come to clear us all out, someone would shout "carabinieri" and we would all scoot off!!

Tell us a bit about your family and home life...

I live with my two gorgeous daughters so we are an all female household! They are both funny, stimulating and totally creative. They keep me attuned to life!

How do you enjoy spending your spare time?

I love entertaining, sailing and looking at art.

What is your most memorable life experience?

The birth of my 2 daughters of course.

What are your plans for the future?

At some stage I would like to sail around the world! But for now I just want to create more beautiful jewellery!
