Inspiring Looks from Cannes Film Festival

From Nicole Kidman’s dreamy blue gown to Anriana Lima’s sexy white dress, the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival this year was very inspiring for brides-to-be. There were plenty of fantastic hair and make-up ideas too. We have selected seven looks we think are the most interesting…

Amber Heard looked bedazzling in a Vionnet gown with her gorgeous side swept blonde curls and matte red lipstick. We think that her glittery earrings along with glamorous make-up are the perfect match for this chic but simple white and gold dress.

We loved Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s sparkly Gucci Première gown in silver which she accessorised with jewellery by Grisogono. She had a very simple down-do and matched it with smoky eyes and glossy lips.

Adriana Lima wore a fabulous white gown by Elie Saab Couture which featured a plunging neckline and a large slit at the front. She teamed it with white heels, Chopard jewellery and natural make-up. Its the perfect look for a glamorous wedding!

Cara Delevingne’s backless dress by Roberto Cavalli with silver embellishments would be ideal for a vintage themed wedding since it has a 1930’s feel. She wore it with dramatic smoky eyes, a natural lip and hair tied in a bun.

Julianne Moore looked adorable in a white gown by Chanel Couture. The loosely fitted dress embellished with feathers features short sleeves and pockets at the front and is both sporty and feminine. She accessorised it with Chopard jewellery and wore natural make-up.

Nicole Kidman wore Armani Privé gown in regal blue which features a sweetheart neckline, re-lace skirt and plenty of embellishments. She matched it with Harry Winston jewellery, nude make-up and a fishtail braid on the side. We are loving this hairstyle!

One of our favourite looks of all was Cate Blanchett’s Valentino silver lace gown with feathered cap sleeves and collar. She accessorised it with Chopard earrings and bracelet in bright hues. We love how she matched the colour of jewellery with details on her dress! This could be a fabulous idea for a bridal outfit.

Bridal Hair Trends with Dario Cotroneo

With wedding season creeping into the near future, Dario Cotroneo, one of Australia's most respected hairstylists and owner of Dario Salon, has given us some great insight into hot hair looks for brides-to-be. Responsible for grooming the locks of red carpet regulars such as Laura Dundovic and Gracie Otto, Dario knows what will make a woman look and feel beautiful on her big day.

Crown Braiding

Inspired by Valentino Runway Shows, the Crown Braid will give any bride a youthful and modern look. For DIY brides here's how to get the look:

Step 1: Part hair in the middle and spray volume powder spray around the crown area and blow-dry hair smooth while keeping lots of volume.

Step 2: Once hair is dry, spray medium hairspray onto hair and brush hair back from in front of the crown area while maintaining the middle part to give it a little 60’s look. Then brush all hair into a low ponytail and secure with a elastic band. Then divide the ponytail into 2 sections. With the 1st section of hair, twist and roll it under and secure with bobbie pins to create a small bun. Follow by braiding the 2nd section of hair and securing the ends with an elastic band.

Step 3: Then wrap this braided section of hair around towards the front in-between the forehead and crown and secure with bobbie pins. The trick here is not to open the bobbie pin and only push it into the braided hair then into the hair beneath the braid to secure (this will hide the bobbie pin) and wrap around the head to meet the ponytail. Then wrap the remaining hair around the bun and loosen hair around the edges. Finish with a make up brush and medium hairspray to secure style.

Hollywood Glam

Glamorous tumbling curls are a red carpet staple, so always a great asset for any bride. Get your stylist to use a styling tool such as MYCURL, which will guarantee perfectly formed curls, or for the DIY bride, they are easy to use yourself. Style hair with MYCURL and then either leave down or pin some of the curls back in a loose, windswept undo for an ethereal yet glamorous look.

The ponytail has definitely come back into the spotlight in fashion and bridal hair in the last few months - and the great thing about it is that you can go as simple or as elaborate as you like. A centre part with hair pulled back in a low ponytail truly allows your dress and makeup to shine. To up the glam factor, tie hair around the elastic to cover and make sure you ask your stylist to add volume powder and dry shampoo to your roots. Think ethereal, pretty and loose with curls or waves rather than a slick, restricting style to add a touch of romance to your overall bridal beauty.

The Most Inspirational Gowns from the 2014 Met Gala

We have seen a lot of glamorous ball gowns at this years Met Gala, but we also loved the combination of cropped tops and long skirts which appears to be the new red carpet and bridal trend. Hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at the Metropolitan Musem of Modern Art in New York, this year‘s event was dedicated to American couturier Charles James.

Our favourite looks include Blake Lively’s custom-made Gucci Première gown with plunging neckline and a tail. It is covered in sequins and has a tightly fitted silhouette which shows off Blake’s curves. She wore it with wavy hair parted on the side, dramatic eyes and pink lips and we think it is the perfect look for your big day!

Taylor Swift’s pink gown by Oscar de la Renta with gorgeous embellishments would also make a gorgeous wedding dress. Her hair and make-up were a perfect match as she combined bold red lips and a black eyeliner with side swept bangs and loose curls.

Charlize Theron combined black and white with a Dior Couture gown with a tuxedo jacket, and Jimmy Choo heels, while Kim Kardashian showed up wearing a Lanvin dress in teal and black.

Emma Stone opted for a colour-blocking outfit with a custom-made top and skirt by Thakoon and carried a Tod’s clutch, while Rihanna had a cropped top + a matching mermaid skirt by Stella McCartney in crisp white. Kate Bosworth wore Stella McCartney as well, but her coral dress with silver detailing was very feminine and romantic.

Accessories are a very important addition to your dress and we closely observed how celebrities styled their luxurious gowns. Diane Kruger’s sequinned Hugo Boss dress was paired with a Eddie Parker white boxy clutch, whereas Kendall Jenner wore a bespoke Topshop satin mermaid style dress with a gorgeous Chopard necklace. Gisele Bundchen wore a black Balenciaga sheath gown with plunging neckline and styled it with fabulous Fred Leighton jewellery, while Lily Aldridge wore a metallic Michael Kors gown and carried a clutch by Salvatore Ferragamo.

One of the most eccentric dresses we saw on the red carpet was Zac Posen’s mermaid gown with detailing in bold red. It was worn by pin-up star Dita von Teese who teamed it with a red clutch by Roger Vivier and Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery.

Amber Heard who is soon to marry Hollywood star Johnny Depp wore a romantic Giambattista Valli champagne coloured dress with floral appliqué and Jessica Alba’s divine lace gown from Diane von Furstenberg had a very similar colour. We think that both dresses would make perfect wedding gowns! We also loved Leighton Meester's low-cut dress by Pucci and Chrissy Teigen's silver Ralph Lauren dress with Swarovski crystals and a ruffled neck line.

Beyonce looked fabulous in a black beaded Givenchy Couture gown. Her Lorraine Schwartz jewels, black veil and bold burgundy lip finished her look perfectly!

To ensure that your skin looks amazing on your wedding day it is essential that you clean and nurture it every day. Fresh air, healthy food and drinking a lot of water is very important, but you also need to pamper yourself with quality skincare products. We highly recommend Go-To skincare range which includes five beauty essentials packed with organic ingredients to nourish and protect your skin before the wedding.

New Romantic Fragrance From Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana’s new fragrance Dolce is currently one of our favourite perfumes for summer weddings because of its delightful mix of white flowers. It is hard to decide which perfume to wear on your big day because you will remember it forever, but we think you won’t make a mistake with Dolce because it is so wonderfully soft, fresh, noble and passionate. With top notes of neroli leaves and papaya flower, water lily, narcissus and white amaryllis in the middle and base notes of musk and cashmeran, Dolce is all about love and romance. It is inspired by Domenico Dolce’s memory of Sicilly and its beautiful villages.

White amaryllis was never used in perfume industry before and it can be found only in the Fynbos region of South. The scent is very rich and it was extracted from the bloom by using “Headspace Technology” which captures the scent without cutting the flower or crushing the petals.

The packaging is also inspired by Domenico Dolce’s and Stefano Gabbana’s home country. Elegant vintage style bottle features flower-shaped white cap which resembles Sicilian signature marzipan sculptures, tiny black ribbon and Domenico Dolce’s father’s signature. The range also includes perfumed shower gel and body lotion packed in chic white bottles with black caps.

Giuseppe Tornatore, Academy Award-winning director, interprets with elegance the finest nuances of the soul, representing the ideal choice to capture the spirit and history of the house, and the poetry of Dolce fragrance.

Played out to an original soundtrack written by Ennio Morricone, the campaign is a living tableau of Sicilian country life at a very special time of year for the village: the lemon harvest. The two young lovers speak only with their eyes, they touch only through the gestures of the children. It is the start of a sweet and innocent courtship. Forever Dolce.
